Prof. Peter Schmelcher, who is a member of CUI’s Board of Directors, has been appointed as Outstanding Referee by the American Physical Society (APS). APS honours only the best experts, who excel through the quality of their assessment, their objectivity and a rapid handling. “This is an excellent distinction, since only a very good global assessment can guarantee the quality of science!” emphasizes CUI-spokesperson Prof. Klaus Sengstock. Moreover, Prof. Schmelcher has been elected by the APS to the Commission on International Freedom of Scientists (CIFS). This Committee shall be responsible for monitoring concerns regarding human rights for scientists throughout the world. CUI congratulates very warmly.
