Roman Mankowsky is a researcher in the group “Quantum Condensed Matter Dynamics” led by Prof. Andrea Cavalleri (MPSD) and will receive the Reimar-Lüst-Stipendium for his dissertation “Nonlinear phononics and structural control of strongly correlated materials”. The award includes a postdoc position and was presented at the Max Planck Society’s annual meeting.

The postdoc position will enable Mankowsky, who is a member of CUI, to continue his research on femtosecond control of ferroelectrics at the MPSD in Hamburg. Within that time period, he will also be doing research at the free-electron laser SwissFEL, which has just started operating at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland.

Reimar-Lüst-Preis:
In honor of the 60th birthday of former Max Planck president Prof. Dr. Reimar Lüst, a foundation for the advancement of young researchers was founded in 1983 from contributions made by German companies. The foundation’s proceeds are used for supporting a young researcher for two years.
