The members of the Materials Research Society (MRS) elected Prof. Kornelius Nielsch to the Board of Directors for the time period from 2014 until 2016. The Board is the highest governing body of the MRS, which currently consists of 16.400 members in 80 countries. The MRS organizes two major annual meetings in spring and in autumn in San Francisco and in Boston; Prof. Nielsch prepared the conference in San Francisco in 2012. At the moment, the MRS is especially concentrated on sustainable materials research, energy materials, and bionanotechnology.
