From 1 January 2014 the majority of publications in Particle Physics worldwide will be published in Open Access-Journals. For this purpose the international Open Access Intiative SCOAP³ (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publication in High Energy Physics) was founded yesterday. Eleven publishing houses will convert their journals resp. the Particle Physics section into open access magazines – among them renowned companies like Springer, Elsevier or IOP Publishing.
