CUI Professor Michael Potthoff started by 1 August as the new head of the physics department of Universität Hamburg. His representative is Prof. Wolfgang Hansen. CUI Professor Markus Drescher is responsible for issues of studies and teaching.

Potthoff aims at the further development of physics in Hamburg. Amongst others he plans to intensify collaborations with non-university partners on Campus Bahrenfeld and to expand networking within the science landscape in Hamburg. In the future his focus will especially be on the potential for development that comes along with the excellence initiative.
