Hamburg Prize for Theoretical Physics 2013: Call for Nominations or Self-Applications

CUI and the Joachim Herz Stiftung will jointly award the “Hamburg Prize for Theoretical Physics 2013” in the area of Photon Science (Quantum Optics, Laser Physics, Ultrafast-Physics, X-ray-physics and related topics).

The award honors outstanding contributions of a highly accomplished international researcher with personal prize money of 40.000 Euro.

The prize was inaugurated 2010 by the State of Hamburg Excellence Cluster “Frontiers in Quantum Photon Science”. It is now continued by the Joachim Herz Stiftung in cooperation with CUI. The Cluster was established at Universität Hamburg within the framework of the German Excellence Initiative. Its main goal is to develop methods to observe the dynamics of physical, chemical and biological processes. CUI allows for an excellent research environment at the forefront of modern Photon Science.

The prize winner is expected to interact with the research groups and especially with young researchers of the cluster (e.g. via lectures and seminars) during one or more visits to Hamburg. Additional funds will be available for these visits.

Please send nominations or self-applications until May 15, 2013, to:
