Can you ride gravitational waves? How quickly does a first impression evolve? Do you understand plant language? On Thursday, 19 April 2018, at 8 pm Science on Tap started for the fourth time. 45 scientists swarmed out into bars and cafés all over Hamburg to give fascinating, surprising, and entertaining insights into science.
The renowned scientists talked for 30 minutes about their projects and life as a scientist. Among them were researchers from CUI, who led the audience into the fields of photon and nano science – entertainingly and without the usual technical equipment but bringing interesting demonstration objects along.
Following the success of the previous Science on Tap events, the program has again been broadened. In addition to black holes, dark matter or ultrafast light pulses, this year’s talks shone light on investments, dictators, and scandals. Each talk started at 8 pm. Admission was again free on a first come, first serve basis (no tickets).
“Wissen vom Fass” is jointly organized by DESY, CUI, the collaborative research center Particles, Strings and the Early Universe (SFB 676), the Department of Physics at Universität Hamburg, and PIER, the strategic partnership between DESY and Universität Hamburg.
