Night of Knowledge 2017

On 4 November 2017, more than 50 universities, research institutes, universities of applied science, and technology-oriented companies in Hamburg and the metropolitan area have once more opened their doors to the public.

CUI and its research partners also participated in the Night of Knowledge and DESY DAY 2017 on Campus Bahrenfeld. They opened their doors between 12.00 and 24.00 to give insights into the research and invited children and adults to participate in numerous activities in the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science, the Institute for Laser Physics (ILP) and the Center for Optical Quantum Technologies (ZOQ). Building 61, where the CUI Office is usually seated, had transformed into an Escape Room.

Supported by the Perbandt group, young scientists used the computer to build three dimensional proteins in CFEL.

CUI scientist Philipp Wessels invited people to follow him on a journey to absolute zero in the Center for Optical Quantum Technologies (ZOQ).

The hologram made a letter visible which was necessary to unravel the mystery of the Escape Room organized by the school lab “Light & Schools”. All Photos: CUI, Bente Stachowske
