Science on Tap 2017

What is Susy doing in the particle zoo? Can a computer become chancellor? For the third time, Science on Tap (Wissen vom Fass) took place on Thursday, 27 April 2017, at 7 pm in numerous bars all over Hamburg with scientists leaving theirs labs to give fascinating insights into science.

Altogether 45 renowned scientists talked for 30 minutes about their projects and about their life as a scientist. Among them researchers from CUI, who led their guests into the fields of photon and nano science – no powerpoint allowed.

Following the great success of the previous “Wissen vom Fass” events in 2015 and 2016, the program had again been broadened to include new topics from humanities and social sciences: fairness, pirates, fake, and signs. The talks took place at the same time in bars all over Hamburg. Admission is always free on a first come, first serve basis (no tickets).

“Wissen vom Fass” is jointly organized by DESY, CUI, the collaborative research center Particles, Strings and the Early Universe (SFB 676), the Department of Physics at Universität Hamburg, and PIER, the strategic partnership between DESY and Universität Hamburg. Hamburg’s Second Mayor and Senator of Science, Research and Equality, Katharina Fegebank, has taken patronage.
