Louise Johnson Fellowship: new call for applications

CUI is now calling for applications for the Louise Johnson Fellowship 2016: The award was initiated within the framework of CUI’s equal opportunity program and offers a one year employment to a female postdoc to do research within one of the Louise Johnson research groups. Employment is possible from 1 August 2016; deadline for the submission of applications is 17 May 2015.

The Fellowship has been set up in honor of Dame Louise Johnson (University of Oxford) who passed away at the end of 2012. The renowned professor of Molecular Biophysics and pioneer of protein crystallography had an international outstanding reputation as expert in the exploitation of synchrotron radiation for biological research.

The first Louise Johnson Fellowship was given to chemist Dr. Amanda Steber in 2014. In the second round the selection committee chose two candidates at the same time: Dr. Antonia Karamatskou and Diana Monteiro are the Louise Johnson Fellows 2015. The idea of giving the award to two candidates at the same time meets with the fellowship’s aim to support excellent young female researchers in kicking off their scientific career as independent researchers.
