When scientists swarm out into Hamburg’s bars and pubs to give entertaining, funny or extraordinary insights into their work, it is time for science on tap – “Wissen vom Fass”. The event which was developed by DESY and Universität Hamburg as a means to communicate science has now been awarded by the Stifterverband with the “Hochschulperle” of the month.

The jury called it a great, true-to-life and low-threshold format to not only communicate science but also to discuss it. A regular’s scientific table that invites to imitation.
Since 2015 “Wissen vom Fass” has taken place once a year in 50 Bars and pubs all over Hamburg. It was initiated by DESY and Universität Hamburg together with CUI, the collaborative research center „Particles, Strings and the Early Universe“ and PIER, the strategic partnership between DESY and Universität Hamburg.
