CUI’s great scientific objective is to watch atoms and molecules move in real time, starting with elementary processes of electron stimulation and transmission as well as solvatation, the study of defined multi particle systems in well-defined quantum phases, the explanation of protein structures all the way to order formation in water, nano particles and magnetic domains.

For these purposes, the research is divided into three major areas:

A: Imaging and Control of Quantum Systems

B: Atomically Resolved Structural Dynamics

C: Dynamics of Order Formation on the Nanoscale
